Work Experience

Before joining UPES, Dr. Sourav Panja worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Mahindra University. His work focused on advanced problems in wave propagation, crack dynamics, and elastic metamaterials. He contributed to developing analytical models, implementing spectral boundary integral methods, and conducting high-precision numerical simulations for dynamic rupture studies. 

His postdoctoral experience strengthened his expertise in metaelastic wave-control mechanisms and interdisciplinary research involving complex material behaviour.

Teaching Philosophy

Dr. Sourav Panja’s teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that strong conceptual clarity forms the basis of mathematical learning. He strives to create a classroom environment where students connect mathematical theories with real-world applications. 

He encourages logical reasoning, active participation, and problem-solving skills that help students apply mathematics confidently across engineering and scientific domains.

Dr. Panja has taught courses such as Advanced Engineering Mathematics I, Discrete Mathematical Structures, Complex Analysis, and Probability and Statistics. 

Awards and Grants

Dr. Panja received the CSIR-UGC Fellowship for Full-Time Ph.D. (2020–2025), awarded by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research for pursuing doctoral research. 

He was also awarded the DST INSPIRE Scholarship (2014–2018) by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, for ranking among the top 1% in the Higher Secondary Examination (WBCHSE). In addition, he received the Swami Vivekananda Merit-cum-Means Scholarship (2012–2013) from the Government of West Bengal for outstanding academic performance.

He has also served as a reviewer for multiple SCI-indexed and Scopus-indexed journals, contributing to the scholarly community through rigorous peer review. His research engagement continues to focus on analytical modelling, spectral boundary integral methods, and interdisciplinary applications of advanced material systems.
