Profile Summary
Dr. Manish Kumar Chauhan is working as an Associate Professor in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Cluster at the School of Advanced Engineering, UPES, Dehradun. He is a well-recognized faculty member and researcher in the areas of Thermo-Fluids. He completed his doctoral degree in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering from IIT Roorkee with a focus on flow visualization, and his master’s in Thermal Engineering from NIT Hamirpur. His areas of interest include Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, IC Engines, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Solar Energy, Life Cycle Assessment, and Defence Technology. He has published numerous research articles in high-impact SCI and SCOPUS-indexed journals, as well as in leading conferences.
Work Experience
Before joining UPES, Dr. Chauhan worked at Amity University, Noida from 2018 to 2025. Prior to that, he served at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ghaziabad, and DIT University, Dehradun. He was also associated with the College of Engineering Roorkee, Roorkee. Throughout his academic career, he has held various administrative roles such as Academic Coordinator, Examination Superintendent, Project Coordinator, and Sports Coordinator. In addition, he has organized International Conferences such as FLAME and FLUTE, along with several workshops and FDPs.

Teaching Philosophy
Dr. Chauhan’s teaching philosophy emphasizes student-centered, project-based learning that builds critical thinking, innovation, and ethical values, preparing students to solve real-world problems and make meaningful societal contributions.
Courses Taught
Dr. Chauhan has extensive experience in teaching a wide range of courses in Mechanical Engineering as well as research-oriented courses. Some of the key courses he has taught include Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat and Mass Transfer, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and Numerical Methods for Engineers. He has also taught programming courses such as Object-Oriented Programming and MATLAB.
Awards and Grants
Dr. Chauhan received a Junior Research Fellowship (Professional) from the Department of Science and Technology (DST) at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee. He was also recognized as a Top Performing Mentor for the NPTEL online certification course ‘Effective Writing’ during the January–April 2024 session.
Scholarly Activities
Dr. Chauhan has guided 28 M.Tech. dissertations and published more than 30 research papers in high-impact SCI and Scopus-indexed Journals, as well as reputed International Conferences. He has also developed course curricula for Defence Technology programs and continues to pursue impactful research collaborations.
