Work Experience
Sudhir K. Chaturvedi, an Associate Professor & PIC-Aerospace Engineering, joined UPES in January 2012. Before joining UPES, he served as a Visiting Research Scientist at KORDI, South Korea (2010-22). He completed his BE (2009) in Aeronautical Engineering from AeSI, MS (Research, 2011) in RADAR Technology from IIT Madras, and Ph.D. (2017) in Aerospace Engineering from UPES.
Research Interests
His research interests include Radar Technology, Target Detection using RADAR and SAR datasets, dynamics & control, and Drone Technology.
Teaching Philosophy
Sudhir's teaching philosophy extends beyond traditional classroom assessments like tests, quizzes, and assignments. He places a strong emphasis on imparting life philosophy and fostering well-rounded administrative skills alongside technical knowledge. He believes that this holistic approach equips students with the tools they need to excel in various industries.
Courses Taught
He has taught various courses including Automatic Flight Control, Fluid Mechanics, Avionics System Design, Radar Technology, Communication & Navigation, Satellite Communication, System Engineering, Flight Dynamics & Control, and Introduction to Aerospace & Avionics Engineering.
Awards and Grants
Sudhir has received several National/International Awards, including Prof. S. Krishnan Award (2007 & 2008) for "All India Topper in two subjects" from The Aeronautical Society of India and the "Young Scientist Award" from KOSMEE, South Korea in 2010. He also received the IEEE best paper award in ISM-2012 and Research Excellency awards in 2016, 2017, and 2019 from UPES. Additionally, he was recognized as an Outstanding Faculty Advisor in 2021 and 2022 from UFRN, Brazil. Sudhir represented UPES-The flying cars projects at AIAA, USA in 2022 and has spoken at various institutions, including various IITs and top universities, as part of his research and projects.
Scholarly Activities
Sudhir has played a key role in collaborating with Indian Air Force (in 2013) for student internships and has successfully placed students at various Base Repair Depots for their summer internships. Over the last 12 years, he has facilitated internships for students at various organizations, including ISRO, DRDO, HAL, NAL, IAF, Airbus, Boeing, Rolls Royce, TATA, TAS, DGCA, AAI, and more. He has organized various industrial visits for students and assisted them in their placements through in-campus and off-campus drives. Sudhir also played a crucial role in signing MoUs with USAC (2015) and Velles Mariners (2020) to enhance students' learning and experiences. As the Organizing Secretary of the National Space Convention 3.0, he invited around 15 Directors/DGs from organizations like DRDO, ISRO, etc., and arranged sponsorships from ISRO for the convention. His dedication and ability to bring together influential personalities and secure sponsorships showcase his proficiency in academic administration and organizing large-scale events.
