Alka Sharma

Dr. Alka Sharma is an experienced and enthusiastic researcher. With a PhD in Management from the University of Lucknow, her scholarly contributions span organizational behavior, psychological empowerment, and diversity in the workplace. Her research is published in reputed journals such as Australian Journal of Career Development, Organizational Psychology and others. She combines academic rigor with hands-on research experience. Proficient in NVivo, SPSS, AMOS, SMART-PLS, and VOS-Viewer, she brings a data-driven approach to teaching and research. 

Before joining UPES, Dr. Alka Sharma has worked as Assistant Professor at Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Pune; Axis Institute of Planning and Management, Kanpur and as a Research Assistant at IIM Udaipur from 2021 to 2024. 

Dr. Alka Sharma’s primary research interests include Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), career transitions, leadership identity, casteism in academia, and workplace empowerment. She is actively engaged in publishing work on marginalized communities and gig economy workers in top-tier journals.

Dr. Alka Sharma believes in cultivating an empathetic, student-centered learning environment that bridges theory and practice. Her approach emphasizes critical thinking, inclusivity, and active engagement to prepare students for evolving organizational challenges.

Dr. Alka Sharma has taught a range of subjects related to Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management. Her pedagogical approach blends traditional instruction with research-driven insights.

Dr. Alka Sharma received the Best Paper Award at the Indian Academy of Management (INDAM) 2023 and has participated in various prestigious conferences, including Academy of Management annual meeting (AOM) and IMRC-IIM Ahmedabad. She is a recipient of UGC-JRF fellowship for pursuing her PhD.

Dr. Alka Sharma has an impressive portfolio of scholarly work including peer-reviewed journal articles indexed in Scopus, ABDC, ESCI, and UGC-listed journals. Her research covers topics like caste and gender-based career transitions, identity work, and emotional labor. Dr. Sharma has authored book chapters and reviewed articles for reputed journals.
