Gunjan Kumari is an Assistant Professor in Economics at UPES, Dehradun. She has finished her graduation and masters from Banaras Hindu University. She has qualified Junior Research Fellowship exam in 2017 and pursuing her doctoral degree from Department of Economics, IIT Bombay. With a focus on labour economics, agricultural economics and development economics, her academic career revolves around exploring economic phenomena and finding innovative solutions to real-world challenges.

Before joining UPES, she was pursuing her doctoral degree at Department of Economics in IIT Bombay.

Teaching Philosophy

She attempts to create an engaging learning atmosphere in her classroom where each and every student can develop intellectually, emotionally, socially, and physically.  She uses cutting edge and unique teaching techniques to engage students and stimulate their interest in learning. She tries to make the lessons engaging for students by connecting economic concepts to their day-to-day issues.

Ms. Gunjan teaches Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Financial Econometrics.

Scholarly Activities

Ms. Gunjan has research interest in understanding the challenges faced and ways adopted by the agricultural households to shield themselves against various shocks. She analyses the role of labour allocation decision made by the agricultural households to mitigate the income risk and overcome liquidity constraints. She also has a strong understanding of causal inference techniques prominently used in the microeconomic analysis. She has presented her research works at several national and international conferences.
