Nitin Jain

Nitin Jain is a doctoral candidate in Operations Management at Indian Institute of Management Udaipur, with over 11 years of prior experience in analytics and consulting, including leadership roles at IBM and HSBC. 

His research examines buyer-supplier networks, supply base transparency, and the intersections of innovation and sustainability. He combines econometric rigor with practical relevance, and has presented at leading forums such as POMS, DSI, and INFORMS. 

Recognized with multiple Best Paper Awards, Nitin’s interests span innovation, slack management, ESG strategy, and boardroom dynamics. At UPES, he focuses on integrating research with teaching to prepare future leaders for complex operational and supply chain challenges.

Before joining academia, Nitin worked for over 11 years in analytics and consulting, most recently as Senior Manager at IBM. His responsibilities included stakeholder management, team mentoring, and advanced modelling using machine learning and statistical tools. He also held roles at HSBC and other global firms.

Nitin believes in experiential and data-driven teaching that connects academic theory with business practice. Nitin’s research explores the intersection of operations, sustainability, governance, and innovation. His work covers supply base transparency, buyer-supplier networks, ESG disclosure patterns, gender diversity on corporate boards, and innovation ambidexterity. 

He works independently and collaboratively using large-scale firm and supplier-network datasets. His methodological expertise includes panel data econometrics and machine learning to generate insights that are both rigorous and managerially relevant. 

He actively collaborates with faculty across leading institutions, presents at national and international conferences, and engages with the academic community through workshops, doctoral consortiums, and peer-review activities. His research reflects a multidisciplinary approach linking supply chain management with strategy, finance, and organisational behaviour.
