Prior to UPES, he served as Assistant Professor at IBS, ICFAI University Dehradun and Doon Business School. He has also worked as Production Manager at Banik Rubber Industry and Quality Engineer at E.R. Auto Pvt. Ltd., along with an academic role at Sikkim Manipal University. 

His experience spans teaching, academic coordination, and manufacturing operations.

Rajeev Ranjan has published in ABDC-listed and Scopus-indexed journals such as Opsearch, Benchmarking, and Informatics in Education. His research applies advanced MCDM techniques including DEMATEL, VIKOR, PROMETHEE-GAIA, CRITIC-MARCOS, and GIS-based models across sectors like transportation, tourism, and smart cities. 

He has presented at national and international conferences and contributed to book chapters on sustainability analytics. His work reflects a strong focus on data-driven decision-making and interdisciplinary applications.
