Dr. Sonali Singh is an economist specialising in economic complexity, environmental economics, and sustainable development. She holds a PhD in Economics from IIM Lucknow, where her research focused on productive capabilities using advanced econometric and network-based methods. 

Her work bridges development economics, sustainability, and data-driven modelling, with research exploring the link between economic complexity, green finance, emissions, and regional disparities. She has presented at leading forums including INDAM, IIM Calcutta, Economic Complexity Conference (Budapest), and World Sustainability Forum (Zurich). 

She has also contributed to a Government of India-commissioned study on the toy manufacturing sector, focusing on competitiveness and policy frameworks.

Work Experience

Dr. Sonali joined UPES as Assistant Professor – Senior Scale after completing her doctoral research at IIM Lucknow. 

She teaches undergraduate courses such as Microeconomics, Trade Analytics, and Investment Banking, and contributes to curriculum design, student mentoring, and academic coordination.
