Work Experience

Before joining UPES, Prof. Sumeet Gupta served as Associate Professor at IBS (ICFAI Business School) and DAV College of Management. He also held the position of Finance Manager at Ayur Herbals and acted as a consultant to TCS. With over 25 years of teaching, research, and industry experience in Finance, Risk Management, Project Finance, Supply Chain, Infrastructure Finance, Oil and Gas, and Banking, he brings a comprehensive skill set across multiple domains.

The Centre for Socio-Economic and Political Research (CSEPR) appointed him as Subject Matter Expert in Finance and Policy Implications for government projects. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has included him on the Expert Panel Member Board for assessing research schemes including the Dr. S. Radhakrishnan Post-Doctoral Fellowship, Dr. D.S. Kothari Research Grant for Newly Recruited Faculty Members, Research Grant for In-Service Faculty Members, and Fellowship for Superannuated Faculty Members.

Prof. Gupta has led multidisciplinary teams on collaborative projects to better understand the financial behaviour of ecosystems and to deliver training and development. He is committed to socio-economic research across sectors including agriculture, rural development, livelihood, health, education, and WASH to strengthen social and economic research frameworks.

He works on Meta Finance, Energy Finance, AI and Chatbots, Analytics and Data, financial advocacy and awareness, education and training, project management, and capacity building for governments, investors, corporates, humanitarian organizations, and consulting bodies.

His published patents include an Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning based System for Railway Asset Management, a Deep Learning based Recommender System for E-Commerce Websites, a System for Risk Management in a Railway Project, and a Device for Caregiver Wellbeing Assessment, all listed in The Patent Office Journal.
