Profile Summary

Dr. Umabharati Rawat is an academician in Operations and Supply Chain Management, currently serving as Assistant Professor at the School of Business, UPES. She earned her Ph.D. in Operations from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee in 2024. Her research focuses on emerging technologies in logistics, particularly cyber-physical systems, smart logistics, and decision-science applications. 

Her scholarly expertise spans multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM), fuzzy and hesitant fuzzy modelling, and sustainable freight logistics systems. She combines rigorous academic research with practical orientation, contributing to contemporary discussions on digital transformation and operational efficiency in supply chains.

Work Experience

Before joining UPES, Dr. Rawat was a doctoral researcher at Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. Prior to her doctoral studies, she served as Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Rustamji Institute of Technology, affiliated with the BSF Academy. 

Her experience reflects a strong interdisciplinary background combining engineering, analytics, and management education.

Freight Logistics; Cyber-Physical Systems; Smart Logistics; Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM); Fuzzy and Hesitant Fuzzy Modelling; Logistics Analytics; Sustainable Supply Chains.

Teaching Philosophy

Dr. Rawat believes in creating an inclusive, collaborative, and learner-centric classroom environment. She encourages students to ask questions, share perspectives, and actively engage with concepts. By linking theory with practical examples, she helps learners understand the real-world relevance of operations and logistics management while developing analytical and problem-solving skills.

Awards and Grants

Dr. Rawat received a national fellowship from the Ministry of Education, Government of India, for her Ph.D. studies. She was also awarded a national fellowship from the Ministry of Human Resource Development for her M.Tech studies. In addition, she received the Srijan 2020 Award for excellence in teaching and student development in Computer Science & Engineering.

Scholarly Activities

Dr. Rawat has published multiple research articles in ABDC-indexed journals, including one A-ranked and two B-ranked publications, along with a book chapter with Elsevier. 

Her recent publications in Benchmarking: An International Journal examine inhibitors to cyber-physical systems adoption and connectivity solutions in freight logistics. She has also published in Global Journal of Flexible Systems Management on logistics preparedness for cyber-physical systems integration. 

She regularly presents her work at international conferences, contributing to research in sustainable logistics, technology adoption, and operations innovation.
