Dr. Kamal Kishor Choure is an accomplished academic and researcher in Electronics and Communication Engineering, specializing in integrated photonics, quantum computing, quantum communication, AI/ML for computing applications, and sensor technologies. He has over seven years of teaching and research experience and is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the School of Computer Science at UPES Dehradun.
He earned his Ph.D. from MNIT Jaipur, where his research focused on realizing optical reversible logic and quantum gates using advanced photonic structures. His expertise spans photonic integrated circuits, optical logic design, plasmonic sensors, and machine-learning-driven photonic applications. Dr. Choure has a strong publication record, including multiple SCIE-indexed journal papers, conference presentations, book chapters, and an academic book.
He has secured research funding under TEQIP-III, guided research projects, delivered invited talks, and received notable recognitions including the Optica Travel Grant. He continues to contribute to advancements in AI/ML, photonics, quantum technologies, and next-generation communication systems.
Work Experience
Dr. Kamal has over seven years of academic experience. He began his teaching career as a Lecturer at Trinity Institute of Technology & Research, Bhopal, and later served as an Assistant Professor at Poornima Institute of Engineering & Technology, Jaipur, from 2013 to 2019. Since 2024, he has been associated with the Department of Computational Intelligence at SRM Institute of Science & Technology, Chennai. Across these roles, he has taught courses in Electronics and Communication Engineering as well as Computer Science, supervised projects, published research, and actively contributed to professional societies.

His goal is to nurture responsible engineers capable of contributing meaningfully to society and emerging technologies.
Awards and Achievements
Dr. Kamal has received several recognitions, including serving as Vice-Chair of the Optica Nanophotonics Technical Group and leadership roles in IEEE societies at MNIT Jaipur. He received the prestigious Optica Travel Grant for SLC 2022, USA, and was twice awarded the Outstanding Faculty Award at Poornima Institute of Engineering & Technology. He also received a funded research grant under the TEQIP-III Collaborative Research Scheme as Principal Investigator.

Dr. Kamal has an extensive scholarly record spanning research publications, conference participation, academic leadership, and professional service. He has authored numerous SCIE-indexed journal papers in areas such as reversible optical logic, microring resonator-based photonic devices, plasmonic sensors, and quantum photonics. He has presented research at international conferences including SPIE, IEEE INDISCON, OWT, ICTACS, and MTTW.
He has contributed book chapters with publishers such as Springer and CRC Press and co-authored a book on basic electronics. Dr. Kamal also serves as a reviewer for reputed journals including Optical and Quantum Electronics, IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, IEEE IoT Journal, and IEEE Sensors Journal.
An active member of Optica and IEEE, he has held leadership positions including Vice-Chair of the Optica Nanophotonics Technical Group, IEEE Sensor Council Chair, IEEE Photonics Society Vice-Chair, and President of the Optica Student Chapter at MNIT Jaipur.
