Dr. Shiv Naresh Shivhare is currently working as an Associate Professor in the School of Computer Science at the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies Dehradun. He completed his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from National Institute of Technology Uttarakhand and M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering from Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology Bhopal. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and has more than 12 years of experience. 

Before joining UPES, he was associated with Bennett University. He qualified UGC-NET and multiple GATE examinations in Computer Science and Engineering and received MHRD fellowship during both his M.Tech. and Ph.D. His research interests include Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Biomedical Image Processing, Image Analysis, and Intelligent Systems. He has published more than 20 research papers in reputed SCI and Scopus-indexed journals and conferences and holds four patents, including granted international patents. He is actively involved in research, journal reviewing, conference organization, editorial activities, and interdisciplinary AI-based research initiatives.

Work Experience

Dr. Shivhare has more than 12 years of work experience. He is currently serving as Associate Professor at UPES Dehradun. Prior to this, he worked as Assistant Professor at Bennett University and also served at Galgotias University and other academic institutions. His academic responsibilities include teaching, mentoring, curriculum development, research supervision, project guidance, and conducting research in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Healthcare Informatics.

Teaching Philosophy

Dr. Shivhare believes that effective teaching should focus on building strong conceptual foundations along with practical problem-solving abilities. His teaching approach emphasizes analytical thinking, innovation, and research-oriented learning. He encourages students to apply theoretical concepts to real-world challenges and promotes interdisciplinary learning through hands-on projects and collaborative research activities. He strongly believes in continuous learning, critical thinking, and creating an engaging academic environment that motivates students toward research and innovation.

Awards and Grants

Dr. Shiv Naresh Shivhare is a Senior Member of IEEE and has qualified prestigious national-level examinations including UGC-NET and multiple GATE examinations in Computer Science and Engineering. He was awarded MHRD Fellowships during both his M.Tech. and Ph.D. programs. His research contributions include publications in reputed SCI and Scopus-indexed journals and conferences, along with patents in the domains of artificial intelligence and intelligent systems. He recently co-authored the book Computer-Aided Intelligent Imaging: Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare Informatics published by De Gruyter. 

Scholarly Activities

He actively contributes to academic research, editorial activities, peer reviewing, and research mentoring in the field of computer science and artificial intelligence. His scholarly work focuses on Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Medical Image Analysis, Computer Vision, and Intelligent Healthcare Systems. He serves as Managing Editor of the International Journal on Engineering Artificial Intelligence Management, Decision Support, and Policies (IJAIMD) and regularly reviews manuscripts for reputed SCI and Web of Science-indexed journals. He has been associated with organizing committees of several international conferences and actively participates in interdisciplinary research collaborations, curriculum development, student mentoring, and supervision of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral research projects.
