Dr. Sumanta Chandra Mishra Sharma is an Assistant Professor in the School of Computer Science at the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun, India. He holds a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur. His research focuses on the development and application of deep learning techniques for spatio-temporal data analysis.
Work Experience
Dr. Sumanta Chandra Mishra Sharma is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the School of Computer Science at UPES, Dehradun. Prior to this, he was a research scholar at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur. During his doctoral studies, he also served as a visiting scholar at Northeastern University in Boston, USA.
Research Interests
Dr. Sumanta Chandra Mishra Sharma's research interests lie at the intersection of artificial intelligence, deep learning, and climate informatics. His work primarily focuses on the development of advanced deep learning techniques for the analysis of spatio-temporal data, with a particular emphasis on climate and environmental datasets. He has explored techniques for downscaling and bias correction of climate variables. His current research focuses on image super-resolution, deep downscaling, bias correction and AI for social balancing.

- Received the AICTE GATE scholarship during M.Tech studies (2015-2017).
- Awarded the university gold medal for best postgraduate in Computer Science and Engineering from VSSUT, Burla, India, in 2017.
- Awarded Institute Fellowship from IIT Kharagpur under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, for the duration 2019–2024.
- Secured SPARC funding from the Government of India to visit Northeastern University, Boston, USA, as a visiting research scholar.
