Profile Summary
Dr. Virendra Kumar is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science with a strong interdisciplinary background spanning Mathematics, Computing, and Graph Theory. He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics and Computing from Banaras Hindu University, supported by the prestigious UGC-SRF. His research expertise lies primarily in graph theory, chemical graph theory, topological indices, entropy measures, and spectral properties of graphs with applications to molecular chemistry and network characterization.
Work Experience
Before joining UPES, Dr. Virendra Kumar served as a research scholar at Banaras Hindu University. During his Ph.D. tenure, he served as a Lab Teaching Assistant in the Department of Mathematics at Banaras Hindu University from July 2021 to November 2024, where he taught C programming and supported undergraduate laboratory courses.
He also worked as a Lecturer at Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, BHU, in 2023, teaching Discrete Mathematics to B.Sc. students.

Awards and Achievements
Recipient of the UGC Senior Research Fellowship (2022–2025) and Junior Research Fellowship (2020–2022), as well as the INSPIRE Scholarship under the SHE scheme from DST, India (2013–2018). Achieved AIR 141 in CSIR-UGC NET-JRF and AIR 435 in IIT-JAM. Received the First Prize for Best Oral Presentation in Mathematics at ICRAS-2022. Earlier distinctions include being the 1st District Topper in Intermediate, 2nd District Topper in High School, and securing the 11th rank in Uttar Pradesh.
Scholarly Activities
Dr. Kumar has been actively involved in scholarly activities, serving as a reviewer for reputed journals such as Scientific Reports and Discover Chemistry under Springer Nature, as well as MATCH Communications in Mathematical and Computer Chemistry. He has presented his research at numerous national and international conferences, including ICMEMS 2024, ICAM 2024, ICS-AIPDEs 2023, UWGTC 2023, ICGNC 2023, and ICCMSO 2022.
His academic engagement also includes participation in specialized training programs such as the GIAN course on Network Sciences and Multi-Agent Systems, a workshop on Graph Theory with Python, and an FDP on Advances in Graph Theory and Linear Algebra.
