Dr. Vishal Sharma

Dr. Vishal Sharma is a dedicated academician and researcher specializing in Geospatial Data Science, Remote Sensing, Image Processing, SAR Image Processing, and Machine Learning/Deep Learning. He completed his Ph.D. at IIT Roorkee, where his research focused on crop yield prediction using machine learning algorithms. His expertise includes object-based image analysis, geospatial analytics, and cloud computing platforms such as Google Earth Engine. 

With a strong foundation in algorithm design, GIS applications, and digital image processing, Dr. Sharma has contributed significantly to the field through research publications and extensive teaching experience. His work integrates geospatial technologies with artificial intelligence to address real-world challenges related to agriculture, climate impact assessment, environmental monitoring, and sustainable development. 

Dr. Vishal Sharma has over a decade of experience in academia and industry. He served as Assistant Professor-II at DIT University, Dehradun (2013–2018), and earlier worked as Assistant Professor and Lecturer at IIMT, Meerut (2009–2011). He also gained industry experience as a Technical Support Engineer at RT Outsourcing (Lenovo Process) (2008–2009). His diverse professional experience has strengthened his expertise in teaching, research, curriculum development, and technical problem-solving.

Dr. Vishal Sharma has taught courses including Remote Sensing & GIS, Design and Analysis of Algorithms, Data Structures, Database Management Systems, Computer Networks, Digital Image Processing, Geographic Information Systems Applications, and Machine Learning for Geospatial Analysis. He has also taught M.Tech. and Ph.D. scholars at IIT Roorkee. 

Dr. Vishal Sharma has actively contributed to scholarly research in Geospatial Data Science, Remote Sensing, SAR image processing, and Machine Learning applications. His research focuses on crop yield prediction, environmental monitoring, climate impact assessment, flood mapping, vegetation analysis, and land use classification using advanced computational and geospatial techniques. 

He has extensive experience working with platforms such as Google Earth Engine and GIS-based analytical tools for large-scale geospatial modelling and environmental assessment. In addition to research, he actively contributes through teaching, mentoring student projects, and participating in interdisciplinary research initiatives related to agriculture, sustainability, and climate resilience.
