Profile Summary
Bismarck Ghavri is a visual artist and design educator with a strong foundation in fine arts and an interdisciplinary approach to creative practice. He completed his Bachelor's in Fine Art from the College of Art, Delhi, and his Master of Design (M.Des.) from IIT Guwahati.
He specializes in photography, illustration, filmmaking, and design research, with work that explores visual storytelling, cultural narratives, and artistic expression. Prof. Ghavri brings a practice-based and research-informed perspective to the classroom, integrating aesthetics, design thinking, and contextual inquiry.
He is particularly passionate about portraiture and visual cultures, and his creative and academic pursuits reflect the rich intersections between art, craft, anthropology, and contemporary design practice.
Work Experience
Before joining UPES, Prof. Ghavri worked on multiple creative and research-based projects, including an initiative funded by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR).
His professional practice spans photography, illustration, filmmaking, and visual communication, with work grounded in both artistic exploration and design research methodologies.
