Dr. Raj Kumar is an Assistant Professor at the School of Health Sciences and Technology, UPES University, Dehradun. Recognized among the world’s top 2% scientists by Stanford University (2020–2024), he has made substantial contributions in the fields of nanomaterials and biomaterials for biomedical applications, particularly stimuli-responsive targeted drug delivery and neural tissue engineering. 

His research focuses on developing innovative nanocarriers for treatment strategies related to gastric cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, obesity, diabetes, and neural regeneration. His work has been published in leading international journals such as Materials Today, Coordination Chemistry Reviews, Advanced Functional Materials, Advanced Drug Delivery Reviews, Journal of Controlled Release, and ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces

He was selected as a Young Scientist at the 71st Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting in Chemistry and has completed multiple prestigious postdoctoral fellowships spanning over seven years. He actively mentors graduate and undergraduate students in advanced biomedical research. 

Work Experience

Before joining UPES, Dr. Raj Kumar had more than eight years of research experience in nanomedicine and neural tissue engineering. He served as a postdoctoral researcher at reputed institutions in the United States, where he worked on advanced drug delivery systems using innovative nanocarriers. 

He has extensive experience in physicochemical characterization of nanomaterials using modern analytical techniques and has also coordinated academic workshops and conferences.

Dr. Raj Kumar is actively engaged in research at the intersection of nanotechnology, biomedical engineering, and targeted drug delivery systems. He has authored more than 80 publications in reputed journals. His work has significantly advanced the understanding of engineered nanoparticles for enhanced bioavailability and targeted therapy, especially for diseases such as gastric cancer and inflammatory bowel disease. 

He has served as reviewer for more than 50 scientific journals and regularly collaborates with international researchers to expand the global impact of his work. He frequently presents at conferences, sharing research insights with the scientific community. Through his scholarship and mentorship, he continues to inspire young researchers to develop innovative solutions for complex healthcare challenges.
