Tamanna Chandan Chachlani is a Cambridge-trained legal scholar whose work sits at the crossroads of international law, technology, and social justice. She brings together courtroom experience, community-driven advocacy, and a global academic background to examine how law shapes—and is shaped by—our rapidly evolving world.
Her teaching spans International Law, EU Law, and comparative legal systems, where she is known for transforming abstract doctrines into vivid, real-world examples that students remember long after class. Her lectures blend doctrinal rigour with questions of power, ethics, identity, and technology, making complex legal ideas intuitive and engaging.
Equally committed to impact beyond the classroom, Tamanna founded Meraki, a rights-based initiative reaching hundreds of young people across India. She has advised on international contracts, contributed to genocide research in Bangladesh, and served as lead petitioner in a landmark Supreme Court case that redefined the rights of Indian law graduates. Her research and writing explore AI ethics, gender justice, global governance, international criminal law, and the future of technology regulation.
Work Experience
Tamanna taught International Law and EU Law at Symbiosis Law School, where she designed inquiry-driven classrooms and supervised research across global legal themes. She has spearheaded international COIL collaborations under the Jean Monnet Chair and co-created a MOOC on climate justice.
As Visiting Faculty at Symbiosis College, she taught comparative law with a global lens. Her prior work spans research in international criminal law in Bangladesh, maritime policy in India, contract advisory in Canada, and arbitration-focused legal practice in New Delhi. This diverse background enables her to bring a rare blend of academic, policy, and litigation experience to her teaching.

By integrating comparative perspectives and lived realities, she aims to nurture thoughtful, ethically grounded, and globally aware legal professionals.
