Dr. Shipra Joshi is a critical scholar whose work bridges postmodernism, contemporary literary theory, postcolonial critiques, and innovative interdisciplinary research methodologies. Her Ph.D. centres on the exegesis of postmodernity, examining its manifestations in globalized literature, particularly through the lens of consumerism and the resulting identity crisis in urban narratives.
Dr. Joshi’s pedagogy focuses on building a rigorous literary curriculum that promotes scholarly independence through dialogue, inquiry, and critical discussion. In addition to her Ph.D., M.A. English, and B.A. (Hons.) English, she holds a PGCTE certification in English Language Teaching from EFLU Hyderabad, with specialization in Linguistics, Phonetics, and English language instruction.
Work Experience
Before joining UPES, Dr. Joshi served as an Associate Professor at Graphic Era Hill University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, beginning in September 2017. During her tenure, she held multiple academic, administrative, and operational responsibilities. She has contributed significantly to institutional development through leadership roles, collaborative team engagement, and academic coordination in dynamic higher education environments.
Research Interests
Dr. Joshi’s research interests include Postmodernism and its manifestations in contemporary literature, feminist and socio-economic analysis of power structures and urban spaces, aesthetics and the relocation of its norms in Indian art, and interdisciplinary research using methodologies such as Fuzzy Logic for Gross Environment Product analysis and AI-driven literature reviews.
Teaching Philosophy
Dr. Joshi’s teaching philosophy prioritizes an active, discourse-driven academic environment. She discourages passive learning and instead promotes intensive, discussion-based methods that stimulate critical engagement. Her pedagogy culminates in rigorous, research-oriented assignments designed to strengthen analytical thinking, scholarly independence, and intellectual confidence among learners.

Dr. Joshi has taught a comprehensive range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in English Literature. Her teaching includes foundational papers in Literary Criticism and Literary Theory, along with specialized areas such as Postcolonialism, Feminist Literary Studies, British Literature, American Literature, and World Literatures. She has also taught Communication Skills and Soft Skills, integrating applied professional competencies into the curriculum.
