While focusing on the core academic activities, UPES has not ignored the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) front. Soon after inception, UPES undertook a number of community outreach programs and made several efforts to support the community. The initiatives included opportunities for neighboring village women and children and improving the standard of living of people in villages in and around campus through educational and technical skill development programs and also through exposure campaigns at seminars, talks and health camps.
UPES relentlessly works towards the betterment of the society and preserving the environment. Some of the major steps taken by the university in this area are:
Drawing and painting is one of the foremost ways to give wings to the thoughts of the children. CSR, UPES organizes painting competitions for the primary school students of village. This provides them an opportunity to the children to express their thoughts in the words of color. The best paintings are taken on the seasonal greetings card of UPES.
The footprints of CSR are not limited to places around the Campus, but also spread far beyond. CSR-UPES is helping the MakhtiPokhri School which is 100 km away from the campus. The university has established a Computer Lab at the school. Members of CSR-UPES frequently visit the school to see the progress of the students in their computer skills.
Free mobile medical van (FMMV) services
Looking at the remoteness of the villages from the medical facilities, CSR, UPES provides Free Mobile Medical Van (FMMV) services to villagers. The FMMV is a mobile clinic equipped with basic medicines and a qualified doctor that provides regular health checkups for the five adopted villages in the vicinity of UPES. Through this initiative, UPES is providing medical facility to the villagers at their doorsteps.
