BA LL.B (Hons.) & BBA LLB (Hons.) International Economic Law
Program details
The BA LL.B (Hons.) and BBA LL.B (Hons.) with specialisation in International Economic Law provides a comprehensive examination of the legal frameworks governing cross-border economic relations. It focuses on the rules, principles and institutions that regulate economic interactions among States, international and regional economic organisations, multinational corporations and private actors in the global economy. Students develop a systematic understanding of how international legal regimes regulate international trade, foreign direct investment, international finance and global economic governance. Emphasis is placed on the interpretation and application of treaty-based obligations, customary international economic norms, and regulatory mechanisms developed by international institutions. The program critically examines how these frameworks balance State sovereignty and regulatory autonomy with economic liberalisation and market integration.
It adopts an analytical and policy-oriented approach, engaging learners with contemporary challenges such as trade protectionism, sustainable development, digital and services trade, environmental and labour standards, and the regulation of multinational enterprises. Through case-law analysis and research-based learning, students build advanced competencies in legal reasoning, treaty interpretation and policy evaluation.
