Profile Summary
Dr. Taruni Gupta is a dedicated life skill coach and educator with over eight years of experience in higher education, student development, and training design. At UPES, she has played an integral role in shaping the Trainings vertical – EDGE, contributing to its vision of enhancing employability, workplace readiness, and holistic growth.
A certified Life Skill and Career Guide Coach, Dr. Gupta has mentored more than 8,000 students, helping them overcome career anxiety, performance pressure, and decision-related challenges. Her sessions integrate psychological insight with practical frameworks, enabling learners to develop self-awareness, emotional balance, and professional confidence.
She holds a Ph.D. in General Management from UPES, Dehradun. Her doctoral research explored social media fatigue, emotional exhaustion, and academic performance decline among Indian university students, contributing meaningfully to the fields of digital well-being and youth productivity.
Work Experience
Before joining UPES, Dr. Gupta spent over three years working in education and counselling. She began her journey at the university with the Career Services Department, where she developed expertise in employability enhancement, career guidance, and student anxiety management. Over the years, she has designed and delivered numerous mentoring sessions and training programmes that help students align their aspirations with their strengths.
In her current role at the School for Life, she focuses on life skill coaching, mind mapping, and mastering self, guiding learners through meaningful personal and professional transformation.
Research Interests
Dr. Gupta’s research interests include Social Media Fatigue, Career Anxiety, Academic Performance, Digital Well-being, Emotional Intelligence, Student Counselling, Employability Skills, and Growth Mindset.
Teaching Philosophy
Dr. Gupta believes that education is a journey of self-discovery. As a life skill mentor, she focuses on helping students understand themselves before defining their career paths. Through experiential tools such as the Wheel of Life and Circle of Control, she encourages students to build clarity, resilience, and purpose. Her mission is to shape learning into a mindful, confidence-building journey that continues beyond the classroom.

Dr. Gupta has facilitated a diverse range of life and career skill modules, including Managing Self and Personal Effectiveness, Emotional Intelligence and Resilience, Habit Formation and Growth Mindset, Life Skill Development and Mindfulness Practices, Counselling and Guidance Skills, and Career Skills and Employability.
Her learning spaces are reflective, interactive, and experiential, where theory meets application and self-awareness becomes the foundation of growth.
