About SANKALP

Advancing Responsible Leadership

SANKALP – Centre for Responsible Leadership advances responsible leadership across the academic, research and social engagement initiatives in UPES School of Business. The Centre seeks to nurture socially conscious, inclusive and sustainability-oriented leaders by integrating responsible management principles into education, research, faculty development, industry collaboration and community engagement.

SANKALP brings together students, faculty, businesses, government and civil society to address contemporary challenges at the intersection of business and society. Through education, research, management development programmes, experiential initiatives and community engagement, the Centre seeks to translate responsible leadership into meaningful institutional and societal impact.

Empowering and promoting Uttarkashi towards sustainable livelihood frameworks

The project is expected to create significant societal impact by revitalising rural livelihoods in the Himalayan region through organic farming, value-added product manufacturing and skill enhancement. It will support youth and women, reduce outmigration, preserve traditional knowledge, encourage sustainable tourism and strengthen the long-term socio-economic resilience of communities in Uttarkashi's Bhatwari Block.

Sustainable Agriculture Towards Clean Ganga Mission

Outreach activities among farmers and students in the Haridwar region

The project promotes organic farming and strengthens online marketing of organic products while contributing to the Clean Ganga Mission. It builds farmer capacity in multilayer cropping, water management, input optimisation and sustainable agricultural practices while creating employment opportunities for rural youth.

It also examines the impact of fertilisers and pesticides on air quality, identifies key pollutants and recommends appropriate mitigation measures.

SRIJAN Social Internship

Developing Responsible Leaders

Social Internship

The SRIJAN Social Internship enables first-year students of UPES School of Business to undertake a mandatory 6–8 week full-time engagement with social organisations. Through meaningful community service, students develop empathy, leadership capabilities and a deeper understanding of grassroots realities while contributing positively to society.

SANKALP – Centre for Responsible Leadership invited first-year School of Business students to create logos, taglines and reels reflecting ethical, socially responsible and sustainable leadership. The initiative combined creativity, technology and responsible communication while strengthening students' understanding of sustainability.
