Continuation of medical camps in the villages during lockdown
- On the request of the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand to develop a smart model village, UPES has launched an initiative called project ‘UTTHAN’, wherein twin villages of Dhalani and Koti are selected to be converted into smart villages.
- These villages are located approximately 20 kms from the university campus. The UPES - CSR team has been working in these villages since the past 10+ months to do the baselinedata mapping of all the 250 plus households located there.
- The cumulative population of these villages is around 750. Iteration is underway in not only developing them into smart villages but also on improving their livelihood, deploying locally available resources. Since medical care facilities were almost non-existent in these villages, UPES team hired a doctor and his team for holding free-of-cost medical camps in these locations on a twice-a-month basis. The requisite medication is also dispensed free-of-cost.
- Close to 40+ patients get attended to at every such camp. These medical camps have continued during these trying times.
