The dream of becoming a doctor knows no borders, yet for many Indian students it begins to feel restricted by entrance exams like NEET and the fierce competition for MBBS seats. Every year, over 2.3 million aspirants compete for fewer than one lakh seats, and the pursuit often shifts from a calling to heal into a stressful battle for a place. In that struggle, many lose sight of the noble purpose that first inspired them. But if the true goal is to heal and serve, the need for doctors extends far beyond India and the world needs more of them than ever. Becoming a doctor is a universal calling, and many students are now looking at global pathways to achieve it right after Class 12 or senior secondary school.
Become future-ready with our Health Sciences & Technology programs
Know More- So, let us answer the most asked question: Is there a way to become a doctor without NEET or getting an MBBS seat in India?
- Yes, there is. And it is a smarter, globally recognised route.
If your goal is to practice medicine internationally, you are already at an advantage. Indian doctors are respected across the world, especially in the U.S. and Canada. With projected shortfalls of over 124,000 doctors in the U.S. and nearly 79,000 in Canada in the coming decade, the world needs more doctors, and it is looking at future-ready students like you.
If your dream has always been to practice medicine outside India, this pathway helps you get there faster and without NEET but with an MD degree, which you might have pursued after completing MBBS. If your vision is to practice in the U.S. and Canada, the 5 Year Accelerated MD Pathway Program is the answer. It is more than just a degree. It is a direct route to becoming a practicing doctor abroad.
What is the 5 Year Accelerated MD Pathway Program
This program is designed in collaboration between UPES in India and the Medical University of the Americas in Nevis, Caribbean. It is built especially for Indian students who want to become globally qualified doctors and practice in the U.S. or Canada.
Here is how your journey will look
- Year 1: Study Pre Medical Sciences at UPES, Dehradun
- Years 2 and 3: Learn Basic Sciences at MUA, Nevis in the Caribbean
- Years 4 and 5: Do Clinical Rotations in leading hospitals across the U.S. and Canada
It is a straight road to your dream without the chaos of multiple entrance exams or fights for the limited seats.
Where does this lead you?
MUA graduates do not just pass, they thrive. What makes us say this:
- 98% residency placement rate from 2020 to 2024
- 85% pass rate in USMLE Step 1*
